The long tables and benches help make the place feel roomy even when it's crowded and you can have a large party there, no problem, since the tables are all huge. It's really easy going but still trendy. The live bands are awesome but it does get loud.
You buy the barbecue food in a line separate from the drinks. Everything is paid in advance so you can just leave at the end. I was there on a few occasions and typically enjoyed the food. I especially love the BBQ baked beans. But, last night everything was subpar. My understanding is that on Saturday night they need to get the food out so fast that it doesn't get all the benefits from being cooked slowly. And the sad part is that they run out of food anyways. I was there pretty early and a few dishes were already gone when I went to order.
In short, great vibe, but the food is hit or miss.

I've been here a few times and it just doesn't stand up to other BBQ places in the city (Hometown Bar-B-Que and Hill Country to name a few). The reason to make the trek to The Strand is for its large beer and whiskey selection along with plenty of beer garden style seating.June 01, 2016
